In a heart-wrenching tragedy, police say a mother shot and killed her 12-year-old son Saturday morning in South Chicago. The suspect is 37-year old Fallon Harris.
The boy was discovered unresponsive by a witness in the 8000 block of South Bennett Avenue at approximately 10:30 am with an apparent gunshot wound to his head. When asked about the shooting, Harris’ family members told police she shot her son over a missing digital storage disk card from his car. When he refused to tell her where the card was, his mother shot him again. The boy later died at the hospital.
Members of the family say Harris was suffering from paranoia. She admitted that she shot him and led them straight towards where her gun was hidden.
The court ordered that she be held without bond on charges of murder. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Monday morning.
