There was an incident between a police officer and a 22-year-old woman at Fort Collins, Colorado that barstoolsports on Instagram caught on video. The caption under the video reads “Seems excessive”.
The footage itself has now been seen nearly 1 million times on Instagram, before counting news coverage, so many people are seeing it.
According to KCNC, the young woman, Michaella Surat, had been put in custody due to hitting and obstructing a police officer.
Shortly after that altercation, the police officer is caught on tape losing patience in the situation and then taking the woman and slamming her to the ground face down.
Authorities say that the officers were called to the location after a domestic disturbance was reported between two males. After that they reported the woman had struck a bouncer and then a police officer.
The police stated to KCNC:
“The officers told her that her boyfriend was not free to leave but that she could go…She remained at the scene, at which time she physically obstructed and struck an officer.”
The 22-year-old woman is looking at assault charges, and obstructing police.
